It is a large natural underwater sinkhole located 70 kilometers from main land and at center of Belize barrier reef. This sinkhole have a depth of 120 meter and it is 300 meter across. It formed in ice age, 150000 years ago by the opening of a dry cave. The melting of ice and rising of seas level causes the formation of great blue hole.
The great blue hole became a world heritage site in the year 1997. It is also home for 500 rare form of animals and plant life. Every year this natural sink hole attracts more than 2 lacks of international tourists. scuba diving becomes main activity in great blue hole.
