Dead sea is the second saltiest bodies of water in the world, located between borderline of Israel and Jordan. The salinity of death sea averages between 34.2 -35 percentage. It is almost ten times greater than that of normal salinity of sea water. This higher percentage of salinity makes lack of aquatic life, that’s why this lake called as ‘The dead sea’. It is also situated 423 meters below sea level, makes lowest elevation on land.
This high concentration of salt also let the visitors to float in dead sea. The water of dead sea also benefits human health as it contains high volume of minerals like potassium, calcium, sulphur and bromine. This water can heal different skin conditions and will flush out toxins. The unusual concentration of minerals also cause discharging of asphalt in dead sea. It is said to be huge amount of asphalt imported from dead sea to Egypt for during mummification processes.
